The Role of a Nanny

A nanny is responsible for all aspects of childcare within the family home. They provide a safe, nurturing, and trustworthy presence while supporting children’s growth and development. Many families also value English-speaking nannies for the opportunity to create a bilingual environment and encourage a broader cultural upbringing.

Typical Duties

  • Working in partnership with parents to support children’s care and early educational development (typically from birth to 7 years old).

  • Meeting daily needs such as dressing, feeding, and bathing.

  • Assisting with light household tasks related to the children, including laundry, meal preparation, and keeping their rooms and belongings tidy.

  • Supporting learning and development by encouraging reading, writing, social skills, and age-appropriate educational activities.

  • Planning and organising stimulating play, outings, and activities.

  • Escorting children to school, extracurricular activities, and supervising homework where required.

Working Hours
The working pattern of a nanny depends on the family’s circumstances. Nannies may work on a live-in or live-out basis, with schedules tailored to meet the specific needs of each household.

Important Note
WRAC Ltd provides nanny recruitment by way of introduction only. Once a suitable candidate is introduced, the family employs the nanny directly.

  • Nannies are not sponsored staff.

  • They are not employed by WRAC Ltd.

  • All employment arrangements are strictly between the family and the nanny.
